The Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series quite surprised me. I started reading it due to the fact that I enjoyed the show True Blood on HBO and I wanted to check out where the story line came from. I thought that the series would be a alright, but not fantastic read, just something to fill the time. However, after finishing the available books so far, I find that I enjoyed the series quite a bit. The main character actually grows with the experiences that she goes though, learning new ways to deal with situations, as well as growing psychologically. Some of the happenings are a bit of stretch, but most of them fit in nicely with the overall world that Charlaine Harris has put forth. Worth the read in my opinion.
